The NDS-Gear iEDGE Review / Guide

Much is written about these products on the official website and other sources - NDS-Gear are here to give a plain, short, simple review in layman's terms! Of course, the original feature list can still be found below our own review.

The original EDGE DS card was the most reliable card that NDS-Gear ever sold - having a failure rate of even less than one in a thousand! The EDGE DS team did a really solid job and the EDGE card was a hit in the U.K. - which is why it was so surprising that the EDGE ds card discontinued production in October of 2009!

The reason for this was shortly revealed, however. The iEDGE was in the research and development phase - a version of the EDGE DS card that would be compatible with the Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DSi XL and Nintendo DSi LL consoles as well! Ths iEDGE DS was released on the 9th of January, 2010 - and has not disappointed at all!

For those unfamiliar with the card, the iEDGE was built with robustness in mind. Using a menu system first designed and implemented in the R4 v2 card, the buttons are clearly labelled and easy to understand. The menu system is quite fast and the iEDGE DS card runs both applications and games well. Media is also not a problem thanks to Moonshell, the ever popular DS / DS Lite / DSi portable media player.

The iEDGE DS comes in a triangular packaging much like the original EDGE DS card. The packaging is different to others you would see for other types of cards and makes for a particularly sleek and sexy design. As a result, the iEDGE DS is most popular as a gift. Don't underestimate the power of the iEDGE as a card for personal use, though - it's as solid as the M3i Zero in terms of software reliability, but also comes in the most reliable casing we have! This is (currently - as of Jan 2010) NDS-Gear's card of choice.

The iEDGE can accept up to 32GB Micro-SDHC cards, and is, of course, compatible with the DSi as well as the DS and DS Lite!
