The R4 SDHC is one of the best R4 Card on the market today for the Nintendo DS and DS Lite. The R4 SDHC has a proven developmental team, who has continously provided new firmware updates ensuring the smooth working of the R4 SDHC. Unlike the original R4, the R4 SDHC is able to take up to 32GB micro SD, giving the R4 SDHC plenty of space to store a large amount of homebrew games, videos, music and other media.

Using R4

Besides playing homebrew game, the R4 SDHC has many other functions. The R4 SDHC can be used to listen to MP3s and music, watch video properly converted to the DS format, view e-books and photographs.

Like all other R4 card, the R4 SDHC requires a micro SD to act as its memory as the R4 does not have any internal memory of its own. As stated aobve, the R4 SDHC is able to support micro SDHC format of up to 32GB, making it a significant improvement over the original R4. To transfer the R4 firmware onto the R4 SDHC, you will first need a micro SD to USB converter and of course, the micro SD. Using the micro SD to USB converter, plug in the micro SD into the computer and drop the R4 firmware onto the micro SD. Other files that you want on the R4 are also trandferred this way. After finishing transfering the file from the computer to the micro SD, unplugged the micro SD and insert it into the R4 SDHC. The R4 SDHC is now fully functional and can be inserted into the Nintendo DS / Nintendo DS Lite for the full R4 experience.

In order to ensure continous smooth gameplay and elimination of various bug, it is advisable to update the R4 firmware regularly for the R4 SDHC. The R4 firmware can be obtained from our download page on NDS-Gear. Please do not confuse the R4 software for the R4 SDHC with the R4 Software of the R4 original. The R4 software for the R4 SDHC will be labelled as R4 SDHC where as the R4 software for the R4 card original will be labelled R4v2.

Out of all the R4 cards in the market, the R4 SDHC have the lowest failure rate, significantly below 1%. This makes the R4 SDHC the most reliable R4 card on the market.

If you are considering getting an R4, the R4 SDHC is the perfect choice and is seen by many as the champion of R4.
